Nasi Lemak

Such a renowned dish of Malaysia! I'm sure you all are familiar with nasi lemak.. if not, better get out of Malaysia lah weiii ehehehhee.. Btw, it's one of my favourite dishes.. and I specially like the taste of the fluffy rice and the spiciness of the sambal.. *drooling*

Here's the recipe btw:

Rice:
  1. Wash 2 cups of rice as usual then pour in 2 1/2 cups of coconut milk together with some gingers, black peppercorns (lada hitam), and knotted pandan leaves and a lil bit of salt to taste.. cook as usual and dun bother about it till everything else is ready *grin*
Sambal Ikan Bilis:
  1. Wash and fry some anchovies and put aside.
  2. Next, in the pan, shallow-fry the chilli paste (cili boh).
  3. Put in some tamarind juice (air asam jawa), salt and sugar to taste.
  4. Let it boil then put in the fried anchovies.. stir well.. u can add sum sliced potatoes if u want.
  5. Then.. finish lor! *winks*
Serving:
Serve the rice with sambal ikan bilis, hard-boiled egg, peanuts and cucumber slice (not in pic).

*for 2 - 3 persons

Sausage Curry


Looks yummy right? Its taste is yummy too! Simple, tasty and a variety of the normal meat or fish curry that we used to have. Here's the recipe:

  1. First, saute onions, garlic, ginger and the spices (star anise, cinnamon, cloves) in the pot.
  2. Next, put in the curry paste (curry powder mixed with a lil bit of water).. stir well.
  3. Pour in about 1 1/2 cups of water and the sausages (sliced to pieces).. stir well.
  4. Let it boil for a while before pouring in 3/4 cup of coconut milk.. stir well.
  5. Lastly put some sugar and salt to taste.. you can also add tomatoes if you want to.
  6. Walllahhh.. siap!! It's best served with hot rice anyway.. *drooling*

Coconut Sagoo

The first recipe that I'd like to share is coconut sagoo or kuih sagu kelapa in Mmalay.. I am sure dat you guys are familiar with the look of these soft, sticky but yummy kuih.. The recipe is very simple, easy-peasy and quick to be made, even your 6-year-old brother can make it.. ahahaha!

Ingredients:

1 cup of sagoo
1 cup of sugar
2 cups of water
Colouring/flavouring - preferably rose syrup, pandan flavour also can
Sum freshly grated coconut, mix with a lil bit of salt

Methods:
1. Wash sagoo and put on a strainer.

2. Boil water, sugar and colouring/flavouring for a while in a pot.
3. Put in the sagoo and stir till it thickens.
4. Remove from fire and pour the sagoo in a tupperware.
5. Leave to cool before cutting.
6. Coat with the freshly grated coconut (can be substituted with the dry one too).

Recipe Blog

By popular demands (ehem ehem), I've decided to create a blog where I could share the recipes of the delicious food or meals that I used to prepare or the ones I've been wanting to try. It also acts as a backup - mana lah tau terlupa resipi ke ape ke so at least boleh rujuk kat sini kan.


As I've mentioned in the heading, these are no professional chef's masterpiece, just simple everyday DIY recipes I find worth sharing. Feel free to comment and to try 'em all!
